Local Activity
The Thomas and Corinne Nyquist Foundation is a family foundation. It was formed to provide financial support for local initiatives and programs of nonprofit organizations and groups in New Paltz, NY, and in Roosevelt County, Montana, with emphasis on the communities of Bainville, Culbertson and Froid.
Most funding awards are from $100 to $1,000, though larger requests will be considered. Only under exceptional circumstances will grants above $2,000 be awarded. Click here to view examples of grants we have awarded.
Applications may be submitted at any time, using the application form available from the foundation or on this website. Additional materials relevant to the application are welcome. In preparing submissions, applicants should be aware that the board normally meets only twice a year late July and late November to finalize funding decisions. Inquiries are always welcome, and will be responded to as they are received.
The foundation funds between $8,000 and $10,000 in grants annually. We are particularly interested in supporting projects where a small amount of money may make a difference between success or failure.
The foundation will not support projects on a multi-year basis, but it will consider applications for new needs from organizations that have been supported previously.
Applicants who are funded are required to inform the foundation of when and how funds were expended, and how the support helped meet the specific funding need.
N ational Activity
The foundation also continues the work of the former consulting firm, Nyquist Associates, by providing to all interested community, junior, and technical colleges a free web-based (PDF file format) Federal Funding Report: Opportunities and Resources for Two-Year Colleges. This report will be produced by the 20th of each month.
